Residence Prepayment

Residence Prepayment

To secure your spot in Residence, all students are required to pay a Residence prepayment of $900. The deadlines differ for incoming first-year and upper-year students. Upper-year students apply for Residence on a first-come, first-served basis so the prepayment deadline depends on when the application is submitted.

Prepayments can be made in your myHousing Portal using a MasterCard or Visa credit card, or MasterCard or Visa debit card.

Additional Payments

For making further payments towards your statement of account, please follow the payment methods listed on the Office of the Registrar's website. Please note that your residence charges will be combined with your tuition charges on one statement of account in your Student Center.

Tenant Insurance

Tenant Insurance

Tenant insurance is a requirement for all students living in residence at Western. You will automatically be opted in to purchase tenant insurance policy through a recommended insurance broker as part of the Residence Placement Questionnaire process. A fee of $80 plus PST will be reflected on your Student Center account for the 2023-2024 academic year. Alternatively, if you hold an insurance policy that will cover you during your stay in residence, you are able to opt out. To opt out, you will be required to provide your policy information here. There is also a link provided in the Residence Onboarding Process. If you do not opt out before the deadline, enrollment is final and all premiums will be non-refundable.

A complete description of the coverage provided under the program including all terms and conditions, policy provisions, limitations and exclusions, can be found on the Marsh Canada website.

Internet, Residence Events Pass and Orientation Week Pass

Internet

Internet service is included in your room charge at no extra cost.

Residence Events Pass

Residence Events Pass represents all the excitement of living in Residence. Students who purchase a Residence Events Pass will be given access to all ticketed* Residents' Council events for the building in which they live. Each Residents' Council is a little bit different, but the Residence Events Pass generally includes a Semi-Formal, a Formal, and other great building-specific events! You can purchase a Residence Events Pass for the academic year for $110.00 when you fill out your Residence Placement Questionnaire. The fee will then be included in your residence fees found on your Student Center account. If you have been assessed your Residence Events Pass fee and wish to opt out, you can do so by emailing housing@uwo.ca before the deadline.

If you choose not to opt in, you can still purchase a Residence Events Pass on move-in day. Alternately, your Residents' Council will sell individual tickets to paid events throughout the year.

*There are lots of free events that Residents' Councils offer to students—another perk of living on campus! The Residence Events Pass is an easy way to ensure you get tickets for all paid events throughout the academic year.

Orientation Week Pass (OPass)

Having an OPass will allow you to gain access to all the events going on during Western’s Orientation Week. Most incoming students will not have to buy an OPass because it is included in your tuition under "Orientation Fee". To ensure that your Orientation Fee is covered in your Tuition, log in to Student Center, look under Detailed Statement of Account, and find Orientation Fee under the Ancillary Fees heading. For more information, view the OWeek FAQ.

Payment Plans

Information on paying for your residence, tuition and other fees is provided on your Student Center. If you are unable to make payment of your first instalment by the deadline indicated on your statement of account, please submit a payment plan through the Virtual Helpline  at the latest a week prior to the instalment deadline and follow the below steps:

  1. In the “My Questions is related to” section, select “Student Finances”
  2. Choose “Payment Plans & Extensions”
  3. In the section provided, explain in detail your plan for payment.
