Residence Prepayment

Residence Prepayment

To secure your spot in Residence, all students are required to pay a Residence prepayment of $900. The deadlines differ for incoming first-year and upper-year students. Upper-year students apply for Residence on a first-come, first-served basis so the prepayment deadline depends on when the application is submitted.

Prepayments can be made using a MasterCard or Visa credit card (Note: Visa Debit is not accepted) by logging into the myHousing Portal.

Additional Payments

For making further payments towards your statement of account, please follow the payment methods listed on the Office of the Registrar's website. Please note that your residence charges will be combined with your tuition charges on one statement of account in your Student Center.

Tenant Insurance

Tenant Insurance

Tenant insurance is a requirement for all students living in Residence at Western. You will automatically be opted in to purchase tenant insurance through a recommended insurance broker (Marsh Canada Limited) as part of the Residence Placement Questionnaire process. Alternatively, if you hold an insurance policy that will cover you during your stay in Residence, you are able to opt out. You will be required to provide your policy information to Marsh Canada, via a link provided in the Residence Placement Questionnaire or Residence On-Boarding Process. If you do not opt out before the deadline, enrollment is final and all premiums will be non-refundable.

Internet Subscription (RezNet), Residence Pass and Orientation Week Pass

Internet Subscription (RezNet)

RezNet is your secure internet connection in residence. You will have the option to opt in to the RezNet service when you fill out your Residence Placement Questionnaire. A fee of $395 for the academic year will be reflected on your Statement of Account. For more information, visit reznet.uwo.ca.

Residence Pass

A Residence Pass represents all the excitement of living in Residence. Students who purchase a Residence Pass will be given access to all ticketed* Residents' Council events for the building in which they live. Each Resident's Council is a little bit different, but the Residence Pass generally includes a Semi-Formal, a Formal, and other great building-specific events! You can purchase a Residence Pass for the academic year for $90.00 when you fill out your Residence Placement Questionnaire. The fee will then be included in your residence fees found on your Student Center account. If you have been assessed your Residence Pass fee and wish to opt out, you can do so until August 15, 2019 by emailing housing@uwo.ca.

If you choose not to opt in, you can still purchase a Residence Pass on move-in day. Alternately, your Residents' Council will sell individual tickets to paid events throughout the year.

*There are lots of FREE events that Residents' Councils offer to students—another perk of #livingon! The Residence Pass is an easy way to ensure you get tickets for all paid events throughout the academic year. For more information, visit rezlife.uwo.ca/rezpass.cfm.

Orientation Week Pass (OPass)

Having an OPass will allow you to gain access to all the events going on during Western’s Orientation Week. Most incoming students will not have to buy an OPass because it is included in your tuition under "Orientation Fee". To ensure that your Orientation Fee is covered in your Tuition, log in to Student Center, look under Detailed Statement of Account, and find Orientation Fee under the Ancillary Fees heading. For more information, view the OWeek FAQ.

Payment Plans

Information on paying for your residence, tuition and other fees is provided on your Student Center. If you are unable to make payment of your first instalment by the deadline indicated on your statement of account, please e-mail reg-fees@uwo.ca at the latest a week prior to the instalment deadline. For more information on fees payment, visit the Office of the Registrar's Fees & Refunds page.

Payment Methods 2018-19

For students making a payment for their outstanding residence fees from 2018-19 or prior, the following payment methods are available:

PLEASE NOTE: Residence fees are payable at financial institutions with whom 'UWO - Housing' is registered as an available payee. This includes most major banks. You MUST ask the teller to initiate the electronic payment and choose 'UWO Housing' as the recipient of the payment. If you do not specify Housing as the beneficiary when paying electronically at the bank, there may be a significant delay in assigning the payment to your account. The delay could jeopardize your guaranteed accommodation if you do not meet the specified deadline date. Credit card payments will not be accepted.

Online Banking

Online banking payments can be made through most major Canadian banks. If you already use your bank's web services, simply link to your bank's website, log in and add University of Western Ontario - HOUSING as a payee. If you do not currently use online banking, please speak with a representative at your bank about registering for this service. Payments over the web sometimes take two to three business days to be received by our office.

PLEASE NOTE: Your account number for your bill is your nine-digit Student ID starting with 25.
