Summer Housing for Western Students

Select residence buildings will be open from May 1 to August 23, 2020, for all Main Campus Western students in need of accommodation. This housing has been put in place to support students who cannot return home due to travel restrictions, health, personal circumstances or various obligations. For students registered at the Affiliated University Colleges, please check with your housing offices for specific arrangements.

Room Rates

To support physical distancing, students will be placed in suite-style residence buildings, where each student will have their own single bedroom and private washroom. Each suite also has a kitchenette and a living area. Depending on the building layout, the student may share the kitchenette and living area with another student, if it’s in a four-bedroom suite.

  • Weekly rate: $150/week
  • Monthly rate: $600/month

What's Included?

  • Free internet via RezNet
  • Light monthly cleaning (washroom/light dusting/vacuuming)
  • Front desk service
  • Live-in residence life support

Note: Room rates are based on a price-recovery model to cover our basic operational costs. We understand summer accommodations are likely an unbudgeted expense for many of our students who are unable to return home.

Dining Option

The dining hall in Essex Hall Residence is open for lunch and dinner from 12 p.m.-6:00 p.m. seven days a week, with a daily set menu offers feature salads, made fresh bowls, made-to-order hot favourates, as well as a variety of packaged grab-and-go options. Meals are served in disposable containers for take-out.

All students staying in Summer Housing are welcome to grab takeout meals. You can make purchase using your WesternOneCard (if you have a meal plan), debit card or credit card. No cash will be accepted.
